Alene Clark Gillis, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Houston Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Partain officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church.
Alene was born in Helena, Georgia to the late John A. and Lizzie White Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman Gillis and her son, Keith Gillis. Alene was a homemaker and was a member of Houston Heights Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was an avid gardener, loved watching birds, planting flowers and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her son, Heath (Tammy) Gillis of Macon, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters, Jeanette (Thomas) Fordham of Eastman, Mildred (Mathis) Bowen of McRae and several nieces and nephews.
