Vivian J. Chastain, 90, of Loves Park, IL, passed away, Monday morning, June 11, 2018 at Saint Anthony Medical Center. She was born June 30, 1927 in Elco, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Cora (Smith) Provo. Vivian married Joseph Chastain on June 24, 2000. She was a machine operator at Atwood, Quaker Oats, National Lock and Amerock. Vivian loved baking and cooking. She enjoyed gardening and finding deals at garage sales. Most of all, Vivian loved her family, and friends. Any child that she would baby sit immediately had a place in Vivian’s family.
Vivian is loved and missed by her husband, Joseph; children, Bill (Cheryl) Bargman, Bobby (Genny) Bargman, Tim (Suzette) Bargman, Linda Bargman, Mary (Duane) Hall, and Marla (Wade) Fields; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; 1 great-great grandchild; special niece, Mary Alice Willmore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Kenneth Bargman, her second husband, Ben Banton; and 12 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m., until the time of the service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
