Robert Owen Jones

Robert "Bob" Owen Jones passed away peacefully the morning of May 16, 2024 surrounded by family. Bob was born on October 17, 1945 to John and Dorothy Jones in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Austin High School in 1963. He went on to work for Ozark Airlines at O'Hare where he met his future wife and soulmate, Nicolette (Nicki) Nardiello. They were married on May 24, 1969 at St. Anthony's Church in Rockford, Illinois. They had one son, David, and a daughter, Melinda. He worked as a steel salesman for many years and in the 90's Bob and his wife Nicki owned and operated Island Products, an embroidery business. Bob loved the business and would often create his own funny sayings and embroider them on various items. Bob always maintained his love for his home state and was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan. Bob was an avid fisherman and looked forward to his trips to Canada every year with dear friends, Dick and Rick. Bob and Nicki traveled when they could and especially enjoyed their trips to France, Italy, and New Zealand. Bob had a love for animals and adored his beloved cat, Audrey and his Granddog, Jaxx. Bob enjoyed working in his yard every chance he got or being out on his boat. Bob had an infectious sense of humor and was always quick with a joke.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; brother, Lellen (Buck); wife, Nicolette; and son, David. Survived by his daughter, Melinda (Rob), several-in-laws, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews that cherished "Uncle Bob".

A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A continued visitation will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115.
