Richard J. Ganz, 94 of Roscoe, passed away October 21, 2014. Born December 29, 1919 in Kenosha, WI; he was the son of Robert and Rose (Fuhrer) Ganz. He married Doris Ann Leisten on May 18, 1946 in Kenosha.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Richard served his country during WWII, obtaining the rank of Master SGT. He served in Gen. Bradley’s headquarters, 12th Army Group and also the headquarters of the European Theater of Operations, U.S.A. (ETOUSA).
Richard was a former member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed, Bethany Lutheran Church, Kenosha, WI; and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lansing, IL until he moved to Roscoe in 1998. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #21in Kenosha, WI; serving as the adjutant in 1952.
A graduate of Kenosha High School and Kenosha College of Commerce, Richard was employed with Simmons Company from 1939-1978, where he was the Chief Accountant for the Central Division from 1957-1978. He was also the office manager of the Lincolnshire Country Club in Crete, IL, from 1978-1985.
While living in Lansing, IL, he and Doris volunteered for Meals on Wheels for seven years.
He was an avid Bridge player who enjoyed spending his time reading and was constantly downloading new books on his Kindle.
Survivors include his children, Robert (JoAnn) Ganz, Larry (Cindy) Ganz, and Janet (Joe) Skinner; grandchildren, Christie, Jeanine, Michael , Christopher, Stephanie, Jonathan, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Laira, Logan, Rob Jr., and Nicholas.
He was predeceased by his wife and parents.
