Patricia M. Nelson, 70, of Rockford, passed away on November 24, 2017. Born on October 23, 1947 in Rockford, IL. Daughter of Alfred and Floy (Swartz) Pilling. Employed by Rockford Public Schools in various positions from classroom, library and the lunchroom for 31 years having retired on June 30, 2013. She found enjoyment in traveling having traveled to London, England, doing puzzles, knitting, flower gardens, bird and squirrel watching and feeding. She was active in the retired secretaries luncheon group.
Survivors include children, Jennifer (Todd) Baran, Jeffrey (Shannon) Nelson; grandchildren, Sierra (Edwin) Armstrong, Addison Mullins, Abigail Nelson, Emily Nelson, Isaac Nelson, Kyle Key, Maya Key; great-grandchild, Braelyn Armstrong; brother, Jerry Pilling; special cousin, Glen (Valerie) Swartz. Predeceased by parents.
Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 3 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service.
