Patricia “Tricia” A. Bastian, 74, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord on November 18, 2024, surrounded by her family. Tricia was born August 4, 1950, in Rockford, to Elmo and Melsant Cantwell. Tricia married the love of her life, Gaylen A. Bastian, on June 21, 1969. She was a woman of strong faith, and a loyal member of Kishwaukee Presbyterian Church, even serving as their clerk. Tricia was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, and loved cheering them on during the season. When the weather permitted, she looked forward to golfing with her family. Tricia also loved to watch Food Network. She cooked whenever she had the chance, and always executed her meal with perfection. Above all else, she cherished her time with her family – especially her grandchildren. Her competitive spirit led to many game nights that ended with a new Yahtzee win under Tricia’s belt. Tricia was truly the matriarch of her family, and her presence will be forever missed.
She is survived by her children, Jeffery Bastian and Cindy (Brad) Thompson; grandchildren, Alyssa Thompson and Dylan Thompson; siblings, Ray (Sally) Cantwell, Brenda Mehlbaum, and Danny (Deidria) Cantwell; many nieces and nephews; several beloved church friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylen, who she has missed every day since his passing in 2021; parents, Elmo and Melsant; sister, Pamela Myatt.
A visitation for Patricia will take place Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Kishwaukee Presbyterian Church, 8195 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley, Illinois 61084, from 9:00 AM until the time of her memorial service led by Pastor Nick Garner at 11:00 AM.
Patricia’s ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband privately at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, Illinois.
