Nancy C. Sorrels

Nancy C. Sorrels, 82, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 25, 1935 in Rockford, IL, daughter of George and Francis (Townsend) Yunk. Nancy married the love of her life, Billy J. Sorrels, on June 2, 1962 in Loves Park, IL. She was employed by J.L. Clark and Atwood. Nancy was a lifetime member of the Loves Park VFW Post #9759, and was part of the Ladies Auxillary for 47 years. She enjoyed camping, crocheting and shopping. Most of all, Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her furry children.

Nancy is loved and missed by her husband, Billy; children, Deborah (Wick) Kitto, Patricia (David-deceased) Tuttle, Aubrey (Ed) Parris, Teri (Nick) Eul, Mary (Richard) Meyers, and David (Rebecca) Sorrels; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Gallagher, and furry children, Hunter, Pig, Mama Cat, and Suki. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-laws, and brother-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
