Mary Ann Nelson

Mary Ann Nelson, 97, of Rockford died Sunday, September 18. Mary was born on May 27, 1919 to Benedictos and Adela Powilaites. She married Verner Nelson and they shared 69 years together. Mary loved many things in her life including her flowers, feeding wild critters, and dressing up for parties. Most of all Mary loved her family and was proud that they were able to gather five generations together at family events.

Mary Ann is survived by, son Dennis Nelson (Gerry Dean), daughters; Marlene Carlson, and Diana Perkins, grandchildren; Lori Pennington (Tim), Brad Carlson, Dawn Fisher, Paula Sauer (Anthony), Loralee Coggins, Michael (Debra) Nelson, and John Nelson, great grandchildren; Lindsey Pennington, Austin Pennington, Tiffany Coggins, Jerry Coggins, Brittany (Chad) Whitfield, and Sara Fisher, great-great grandchildren; Tyler and Jaydon, Eden and Keira as well as sisters-in-law Linnea Brown.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by, her husband, parents, brothers; Tony, Benny, and Barney Powilaites, sister, Mildred Sodergren (Carl), brothers and sisters-in-law; Roy and Elaine Nelson, Henry Brown, and daughter-in-law Norma Nelson.
