Janice Elizabeth Johnson, 88, of Rockford, passed away on August 16, 2024 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. She was born on June 1,1936 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of George and Edna Lindblade. She graduated from East High School and went on to North Park College in Chicago for two years before transferring to Wheaton College where she earned a degree in Physical Education in 1958. On July 26, 1958, she married Carl Roger Johnson and they were devoted to each other for over 50 years. She was a member of First Evangelical Free Church of Rockford.
Janice taught physical education at her alma mater, East High School, for many years before having a successful career in real estate where she helped many people find homes in the Rockford community. She was an avid and accomplished golfer and was a long time member of the Par Tee women's golf group at Sandy Hollow golf course. During her golfing days she had two holes-in-one. In her retirement years she enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter, playing golf with Roger, and visiting with her two grandsons. She also loved playing board games and card games with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Cyndy (Bob) Fiala of Carmel, Indiana, her son Charlie (Kim) Johnson of Lone Tree, Colorado, two grandsons, Brooks (Alyssa) Fiala and Kyle Fiala, twin great-granddaughters Callie Rose Fiala and Sadie Grace Fiala, her twin brother Jim (Kay) Lindblade, and her younger brother Bruce (Dorothy) Lindblade. She was predeceased by her husband Roger.
In lieu of a memorial service, a private family gathering will be held.
