Jack Bennett Baumann, 4, of South Beloit, IL, passed away at Beloit Memorial Hospital surrounded by the people that loved him most on October 1, 2022. He was born in Geneva, IL on October 4, 2017 to Brandon and Valerie (Kasmar) Baumann. Jack was incredibly kind and known to everyone as Smiling Jack. He was a preschooler at Stepping Stones Child’s Center. Jack loved to play all different types of games but he really enjoyed playing Pokémon with his brothers on the Nintendo Switch or Pokémon go on the phone. At only 4 years old, Jack beat the game of Mario and Rabbids by himself. He was smart, funny, and competitive, but he celebrated his wins as well as everyone else’s wins. Jack enjoyed swimming and playing soccer at the YMCA. He was always talking and when he ran out of things to say he would sing. Jack was the best hugger and snuggler. He was taken way too soon and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Jack is survived by his parents, Brandon and Valerie Baumann; his brothers, Liam and Noah Baumann; his maternal grandparents, Barry and Patricia Kasmar; his paternal grandpa, Jefferey Baumann; his uncle, Jeremy (Melissa Knapik) Baumann; his aunt, Jackie Weerda; his cousins, Julia and Max; his great-grandpa, David Kasmar Sr; and many extended family members and friends who loved Jack very much. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Rebecca Baumann; and his cousin, Benji.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the unsung heroes who helped out at the scene, First Responders at Beloit Fire Department, the ER staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital, and their special Prairie Hill School family for all of their love and support during this difficult time.
Funeral Service for Jack will take place at 5:00 p.m., on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for a memorial in Jack’s name to be established at a later date.
“Hey guess what?” “I love you!”
