Fred Allen Tyler, 85, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 28, 2024. Fred was born August 6, 1939, in Arkansas, to William and Bonnie Tyler. On May 15, 1965, he married the love of his life, Reta Holliday in Rockford. He was employed with Rockford Products for over 42 years before retiring.
In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating where he met his wife and was even pursing his pilot's license. He also loved to play softball with his friends and was in many softball leagues. He enjoyed being outdoors, grilling, doing various activities including ice skating, water skiing, biking, fishing, frog gigging, and hunting. Many years ago, he was a part of the Rockford Hunting Club. Fred also loved playing Atari games. He also loved to go camping with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Reta; children, Anita (Pat) Korn, Richard Tyler, and Becky Jarvis; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tony Tyler and J.E. Tyler; Aunt Doralee Adams, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bonnie; many aunts, uncles, and extended family; grandson, James Jarvis.
The family would like to announce there is no need to dress up. Fred loved jeans and flannels, and the family would love for you to honor him by wearing your favorite flannel to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission.
