Debra Marie (Lemons) Kauchak, 63, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at University of Illinois Chicago Hospital. Debra was born to James M. and Virginia L. (Colletti) Lemons on Sunday, May 14, 1961, in Rockford, on Mother’s Day. She attended Harlem High School, graduating class of 1979. From there, she met the love of her life, Jerome “Jerry” Kauchak, and soon after married on March 20, 1982. Debbie was a Bank Teller, working with the public all her life. She was employed by J.P. Morgan Chase for 20 years, working at the local branches in Loves Park and Roscoe.
Debbie’s greatest passion in life was simply serving others. She was a second mother to many, as she was a part of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts with Jerry and her kids. The time she spent with her scouts was irreplaceable to her, and her love for people was immense. Aside from her love for others, she loved her Lord, and wanted to make it known that it did not matter how you practiced loving God, as long as you believed in Him.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerome “Jerry” Kauchak; children, Andrew (Anna) Kauchak and Amanda (Matthew) Coppelman; grandchildren, Virginia and Indyanna Kauchak, and Magnolia Coppelman; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Virginia Lemons; brothers, James and Louis Lemons.
Debbie’s family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone involved in her care at University of Illinois Chicago. The support and care they gave to not only Debbie, but to her family will forever be appreciated.
A memorial visitation for Debbie is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a memorial service to begin at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. A private burial of ashes will take place the following week.
