Daniel J. Magner, 55, of Machesney Park passed away unexpectedly due to long term illnesses on Monday, July 22, 2019. He was born to James and Ruby (Scoby) Magner on June 2, 1964 in Rockford, IL. Daniel was co-founder of RAMI Hall of Fame band Southern Heritage in which he sang and played lead guitar. He also worked for many other bands in his lifetime including Piper, Slick Nickel, Showcase and many others. Daniel was known for his love of music and many talents. Daniel loved to spend time with family and friends, play music, watch documentaries and draw. He was an avid believer in the legalization of marijuana and enjoyed being an example of how it would make a difference. He loved listening to all kinds of live music and enjoyed sitting in on many random jam sessions.
Daniel is survived by his life long partner and co-parent, Angela (Thomas) Wallace, sons; David Magner and Daryen Wallace, daughters; Heaven Stiles and Jasmine Wallace, Half-sister, Sheryl Serrano, half-brother, Bobby Magner, Niece, Samantha (Robbie) Capp, Nephews; Alex and Ben Magner and many cousins and close friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David, many aunts and uncles and close friends.
Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, August 7 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Celebration of Life Memorial Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 at Sunset Funeral Home. Close friend Dan Abbott to officiate the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Burial at a later date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
