Carl “David” Lahre, 75, of Machesney Park, loving Husband, Father and Bapa went home to be with his Lord peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Born May 26, 1943 in Savanna, Illinois. Son of Carl Jackson and Lottie Louise (White) Lahre. United in Marriage to Linda Smith on December 20, 1969 in Belvidere, Illinois. Employed by Chrysler retiring after over 30 years of dedicated service. Faithful member of North Love Baptist Church for over 40 years. David found enjoyment in golfing and watching the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, his greatest time spent was being around his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a full time babysitter, bus driver and lifeguard at the backyard pool. He was the biggest cheerleader for all of the grandchildren’s sporting events. Traveling with the family going to Branson, Missouri was always a favorite.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda; children, Debborah (Darryl) Joyner, Michelle (Gary) Linscheid, Kyle (Karla) Lahre; grandchildren, Kendal, Kassie, Makinzie and Ethan Linscheid, Charlotte Joyner, Braeden, Brooklen, Britten and Brenden Lahre; sister, Louise Green; nephew, Brandon Neumiller. Predeceased by his parents, Carl and Lottie; step-father, Lawrence Edward Green; brother, Robert Lahre; sister, Tammy Neubauer; children, Cullen Lahre and Rachel Lahre; grandchild, Braylen Lahre.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 17th at North Love Baptist Church, 5301 E. Riverside Blvd, Rockford. Visitation at 11 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Paul Kingsbury officiating the service. Entombment following services at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family.
