Betty June “Eddie” Bogard, 88, of Davis Junction, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 24, 1932 in Brookland, AR, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Davenport) Adams. Eddie married the love of her life, Conley Bogard, on November 29, 1952. She worked as the head clerk at South Gate Shopping Center and retired from Fran Kral Lincoln Mercury. Eddie loved shopping and was known for her thoughtful gift giving. She enjoyed traveling to visit family. Eddie liked growing vegetables in her garden and love cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She always had a book in her hand. Eddie would grow concord grapes and make preservatives every year. She taught all of her children how to sing “Jesus Loves Me.” Eddie had an amazing sense of humor. She had a keen sense of kindness and was always looking for a reason to kick someone’s butt. We recall when Steve was in 4th grade, there was a group of kids trying to beat up his classmate, Eddie exited the car to stop the fight; a group of high school onlookers gave her the title, “Old Radical.” She was a devoted Girl Scout Leader at P.A. Peterson Elementary School. Eddie was the matriarch of our family and will be deeply missed.
Eddie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Conley Bogard; children, Steve (Judy) Bogard and Connie (Timothy) Berg; six grandchildren, Adrienne (Adam) McGee, Audrey Bogard, Leeann Peary, James (Jennifer) Peary, Sydney Berg and Alec Berg; great-grandchildren, Dean Thomas, Traci McGee, Ryder McGee; siblings, Russell Adams and Judie Whitney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
