Albert J Boyd, age 80, of Rockford, Illinois was promoted to Glory on Friday, December 6, 2024. Albert was born on June 20, 1944, in Bemidji, Minnesota to Eleanor and James Boyd. He married Joyce on August 15, 1981, here locally.
He was a soldier at Salvation Army Temple Corps in Rockford, and loved reading his bible. He spent a lot of time volunteering with the Salvation Army and the Rockford Rescue Mission. Joyce and Al spent nearly 7 years in Port Charlotte, Florida, and another 6 years in Sun City, Arizona. Albert enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, collecting model cars and going to car shows. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Al loved watching his grandchildren in their pursuits, be that racing at the speedway or performing on stage.
Albert is survived by his children, Jeanette (Robert) Helton, James (Laura) Lundstrom, John Lundstrom, Julie (Stuart) Wilson, and Janet (Greg) Adams; grandchildren, James (Sarah) Lundstrom, Tyler Lundstrom, Jaden Lundstrom, Eric (Heather) Lundberg, Tasha (Aaron) Smith, Beda-Lynn Lundstrom, Wesley and Dallas Wilson, David and Michael Cunz, Melynda (Brian) Seaton, and Joseph Jones; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Tony (Peggy) Boyd, Connie Yates, and Debbie Fish; and beloved dog, Queenie.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Joyce Boyd; daughter, Jeanne Cornn; grandson, Holden Fisher; brother, John Boyd; and parents, Eleanor and James Boyd.
A visitation for Albert will take place Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Salvation Army Chapel, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, IL 61104 at 10:00 A.M. with a service to follow at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
