Larry Glenn Farley, 72, of Garland, TX but most recently of Seven Points, Texas, earned his angel wings on December 20, 2023. He was born September 19, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, the only son of Homer Yancy Farley and Elva Jean McKenzie Farley. He graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1970. Growing up he loved working alongside his dad and brothers-in-law at Farley Electric and spent his weekends with his Uncle Alvin on his ranch breaking horses and working cattle, which is where his love of horses came from, and his nickname “Shot”. He joined the Army on the buddy system with his best friend Charles Reid. He worked for 12+ years at Amfac Electric Supply Co. and then started working at Hi-Line, Inc. in April of 1989 until he retired in May of 2015.
He had a love for motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson, dirt track cars, and dancing. He loved to tinker with small engines, and any old car or truck; he could fix almost anything, he referred to himself as an “ol shade tree mechanic.” He enjoyed being out on the lake water skiing and camping in a tent, or as he would call it “roughing it.” But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends and reminiscing on the old days and the days to come. He was a very caring and good-hearted person who would always go the extra mile to help anyone in a time of need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Yancy Farley, and Elva Jean McKenzie Farley; daughter, Misty Dawn Farley; sister, Margie Potts-Tanksley and his beloved horse, Jewelz.
Survivors include his son, Larry Farley, Jr. (J.R.) and wife, Jackie (Katy, TX), daughter, Whitney Farley (Wolfe City, TX) and fiancé, Kyle Kirchman (Caddo Mills, TX); sisters, Linda Earnhart (Columbia, TN), Nita Tanksley and husband, Wayne (Mabank, TX), Karen Rosson and husband, Charles (Seagoville, TX), Tracy Thomasson (Denison, TX), grandchildren, Zachary Farley and wife, Anna, Allison Farley, Bentley Kirchman; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, many dear and close friends, and his beloved four-legged companions that he adored.
