Jeanie Williams

Jeanie was born in Kaufman Texas, on November 24th, 1933 to Winnie and Albert Platt, and was raised in Kemp. She graduated from Kemp High School before attending Henderson County Jr. College and East Texas Baptist University.

Jeanie wed Bobby Joe Williams on June 5th, 1953 and had four children Jill, Joe, Lori and Amy to whom she was eternally devoted.

Jeanie was known for her dedication to being a disciple of Christ and every detail of her life led back to her desire to please the Lord. Her family remembers her nightly routine of Bible reading, journaling, and prayer that she never neglected. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kemp. She worked in the nursery and joyfully served in any capacity that she was needed.

Next to Jesus, she was most dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and their spouses. Not one of her family members has ever doubted her unceasing loyalty to them. “Nanny’s” house was a home away from home for her 40+ descendants who regularly made an appearance at her door for her warm embrace and the cozy atmosphere she created. Jeanie often spoke of being blessed to see this many generations. She brought this extensive family together multiple times per year to enjoy one another’s company over one of the delicious meals that she delighted in preparing. She intentionally fostered friendships and tight bonds within her family that will live on for decades to come.

She found solace in keeping a pristine and beautiful yard. She spent countless hours meticulously mowing her lawn and tending to a variety of flowers and flora.

Jeanie was a fixture in Kemp, working in Doss’ department store and substitute teaching at her children’s schools. She was a talented seamstress and quilter. She fashioned intricately designed clothing for her family and took great pride in presenting family members with quilts made specifically for them. Her creations will be treasured for generations to come.

Jeanie’s family will move forward with the blessing of her legacy behind them, always keeping in mind her favorite Bible verse as the guide to their lives.

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth.” 3 John 1:4.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Winnie and Albert Platt, brother William-Reece Platt, husband Bobby Williams, and son-in-law Stan Huffhines.

She is survived by her loving children Jill McKinley and husband Sidney of Kemp; Joe Williams and wife Susan of Athens; Lori Huffhines Ward and husband David of Eustace; Amy Weatheread and husband Ryan of Athens. Grandchildren; Kerri and Jessie Compton of Eustace, Sally and Scott Chambless of Canton, John and Lori McKinley of Gun Barrel City, Brad and Brittney Williams of Kaufman, Zach Williams of Tyler, Josh and Sarah Williams of Malakoff, David and Casey Lott of Forney, Michael and Jill Lott of Kaufman, Emily and Austin Ruppanner of Eustace, Maddox Huffhines of Eustace, Abby Huffhines of Eustace, Madison and James Johnson of Forney and Levi Weatheread of Athens. Great-grandchildren; Jordan, Kyle, Jake, Anna, Alyssa, Megan, Sarah, Emma, Trey, Addison, Mia L., Mia W., Daylon, Bryce, Matthew, Andrew, Annie, Heidi, Lyla, Ryder, and Rhett. Great-great grandchildren; TJ and Aubriana and other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.

The viewing will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Kemp on Wednesday February 7th at 10:00 AM and the funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM.
