James was born on May 30, 1931 in Osceola, AR to parents Thomas Francis and Mayme (Freezor) Napper and entered into eternal rest on March 13, 2020 at the age of 88. James graduated from Yuma High School. He had a true love for airplanes, so he joined the Air Force, even though he was underage. When caught, James had to leave, but returned when he became of age. Going on to serve his country and becoming a Master Sgt. in the United States Air Force. James was awarded with the Outstanding Unit Award, receiving a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and the Good Conduct medal, receiving Two Oak Leaf Clusters. James married Lana Grimes on January 20, 1979 in Dallas, Texas. He was employed at the SMU Plant, as a Crew Chief. James was always black or white, no gray areas. He was kind, giving and loved his family. James loved traveling, especially his trips to the original 13 colonies, seeing the battle grounds. He enjoyed sports, and his favorite team was The Redskins. James used to race flat track and motorcycles. He was an amazing man, who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Marvin Napper and wife Anna, John Napper and wife Oena, Earl Pinkley and Bill Pinkley and sister Ruby Wright.
He is survived by his loving wife Lana Napper of Payne Springs, sons; James Napper Jr. of Troup, Tom Napper of Garland, Robert Napper and wife Debbie of Dallas and Steve Napper of Tyler, daughter Kathy Petty and husband Darren of Tyler, step-daughter Brandy Lehman and husband Tommy of Garland, step-son Dean Bailey and wife Cheryl of Payne Springs, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
