Dee Edwin Banks, age 86, of Mabank, Texas passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022. Dee was born January 14, 1936; to parents, George Banks and Ardina Evans. He was an adventurous and affectionate man; one that loved golfing, hunting, watching westerns on television, as well as spending time with his family, cat, and dogs. Dee had a huge and kind heart, he would help anybody anyway that he could. In High School, he was a Golden Glove Boxer. Dee was a renowned baseball coach, who could fix anything he put his hands on. Dee loved being on the water, he enjoyed skiing on the lake, as well as fishing. He even won a boat in one of his Bassmaster Tournaments. Christian by faith, Dee attended the Sinners Hope and Clearview Bible Church. He was a member of the American Legion, located in Gun Barrel City, TX. Dee enjoyed playing games, such as Darts at the Legion. He will be truly missed by all of those he met and knew in his lifetime.
Dee was preceded in death by his parents, George Banks and Ardina Evans; sons, Allen Banks and Greg Banks; brothers, Donald Banks, William "Sky" Banks; and sister, Helen Lawler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Banks of Payne Springs, TX.; children, Debbie Banks of Garland, TX., Terry Thomas and his wife, Penny Midlothian, TX., Dena Penix and her husband Billy of Payne Springs, TX. Carolyn Davis and her husband Greg of Payne Springs, TX.; brother, Ralph Banks and his wife Wanda; sister, Eddie Mae Trammell; sister-in-law, Billie Banks; grandchildren, Kristi, Leah, Chris, Kyle, Cary, Dallas, Colton, Hunter, Bryan, Heather, Brandon, Melinda, Marcus, Kristen; 30 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10:00am.; officiated by Lance Glasscock. A burial will occur immediately following the service at the Fairview Cemetery, located in Gainesville, TX.
