

of 90 after a brief battle with COVID and pneumonia. He died peacefully with his beloved wife
Johnnie by his side. He is known as Frank, Daddy, and Peepaw by those who knew and loved
him.
Frank was born on March 3, 1931, in the small town of Non located in Hughes County,
Oklahoma. He was a star baseball player, pitching for the Oilers at Pharoah High School in
Pharoah, Oklahoma, and was graduating class of 1950. His work ethic and desire to take care
of his family led to him holding several managerial and engineering positions with multiple
prestigious companies located in Henryetta, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas and Denver, Colorado
from 1951 until 1999. Frank and his wife, Johnnie Lee Cosper married on September 7, 1951 in
Pharoah, Oklahoma and later relocated to Dallas, Texas in April 1958, where he was a
dedicated member of First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove for many years. They welcomed their
son, David Franklin Cosper Jr. in June 1958, and then their daughter Julie Ann Cosper Fowler in
April 1960. Frank retired in 1999 in Mabank, Texas and resided there until his passing. He was a
faithful member of First Baptist Church Gun Barrel City and attended church services until his
health declined.
Frank loved caring for his farm and ranch just outside of Henryetta, Oklahoma where his mother,
father, and relatives lived. Earlier in life he loved taking his family on camping trips and enjoyed
planning the adventures they all had together. Frank enjoyed the water and the slopes, and
always had a passion for snow skiing and water skiing. He was loved by many and always
looked forward to spending time with his friends and family, including his children, grandchildren,
and great grandchildren.
In addition to his children, David and Julie, Frank is survived by his wife of 70 years, Johnnie
Lee Cosper; daughter-in-law, Rosa 'Lali' Cosper; son-in-law, Greye Fowler; his adored
grandchildren, Audra Leanne Fowler, Ashley Lauren Fowler, David Franklin Cosper III, and
Aaron Andrew Cosper. He is also survived by his beloved great grandchildren, Aysia Fowler,
Raela Cosper, Cade Cosper, Alyssah Fowler, and Madison Cosper along with cousins, nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elmer and Mattie Cosper, his
sisters, Doris Symanski, Thelma Sneed, Jean Sneed, Nancy Sanford, and his brother Fred
Cosper.
A funeral service for Frank is planned for Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 2pm at First Baptist
Church located at 522 W Main St, Gun Barrel City, TX 75156 with a graveside service to
immediately follow. Floral arrangements and donations may be sent to Eubank Cedar Creek
