In 1974, Charles moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area with his three children. Within the year, he started Hill’s Insulation that is still serving the community today. He continued working until the ripe age of 91. Those who had the privilege of working alongside him knew the value he brought to the community.
During his free time, which wasn’t often, he has enjoyed fishing, showing off his collection of classic cars at the car show, teaching his children to water ski, and his trips to Shreveport with his grandchildren in tow. If you needed him during breakfast or lunch hours, you could easily find him at McClain’s or Yellow Rose Café with his grandson Jackson.
Charles would tell you his greatest achievement was leaving a legacy for his family. The love he showed was obvious to all who knew him. His love wasn’t transparent. It was a love that he shared with all who had the pleasure to be in his presence.
For the last 17 years, he spent his life with his loving wife, Barbara. They enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s activities and watching them excel in life. Holidays were always a time they treasured with their blended families. His favorite part of his day was coming home after a hard day’s work to enjoy dinner with his wife.
