Billy C. Autrey, beloved brother, father and grandfather, and longtime Mabank resident, went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 29, 2020. Mr. Autrey passed peacefully while being lovingly cared for at Canton Oaks Nursing facility.
Mr. Autrey was born September 15, 1941 in Maud, Texas, where he spent most of his youth. After living in Dallas for many years, he moved his family to Mabank, Texas to plant their roots. He proudly served his country from 1956-1960 in the National Guard and was stationed at Ft Bliss and Ft Hood. He retired from his long career with the trucking industry in 2003.
Billy Autrey always enjoyed watching a good western, and always had an open spot on his front porch, where he would be waiting to tell you a good story. He was a simple, soft spoken and kindhearted man. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by five siblings: Bobby Autrey and wife Winnie, Joe Autrey and wife Jo Marie, Judy and husband Larry Howe, Freddy Autrey and wife Judi, and Molly and husband Tommy Gaither, and three children: daughter Cindy and husband Leonard (Butch) Payan, son Willie (Bubba) C. Autrey and wife Shelly, and son Terry Autrey and wife Sharon.
Billy C. Autrey left a legacy of 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Billy Autrey was preceded in death by his loving wife Connie, son James G. Autrey, brothers James Harold and Gene Autrey, and parents Frankie and Willie E. Autrey.
A ceremony will be held to honor his life Saturday December 5, 2020 at Elm Grove Cemetery at 2pm.
