Beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Audrey Adelia Eder of Kemp, Texas passed on February 8, 2023, at age 64, after a well-fought battle. Her admirable strength continued to the very end of her beautiful life.
Audrey was born on the first day of fall, September 23, 1958, in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City, New York, to Charles and Eileen Layne. She later moved to Menlo Park, New Jersey, where she spent her childhood.
She achieved her Associates Degree in Biology from Middlesex County College in New Jersey. After attaining her degree, she went to work at the Engelhard Corporation for 13 years as a Research Specialist conducting chemical research within the paper industry. But above all, her most cherished role in life was being a loving wife and mother.
Audrey is best known for her bubbly personality, larger-than-life smile, positivity, altruism, humility, and most of all, her unwavering love for her family. She cherished lakeside sunsets, volunteered for various organizations, was elected and served as a Cedar Creek Country Club board member, and adored her community. Not only was she a high school cheerleader, she also coached cheerleading, participated multiple times as team mom, and became her children's biggest cheerleader at all their sporting events. Audrey also cheered on the New York Giants, and enjoyed watching all sports. She loved beach days, flying kites, and traveling the country with her husband. She baked decadent desserts, loved sweets and chocolate, and was known to carry around her own sprinkles to liven up any ice cream. Audrey brightened up every room, cared deeply for others, and was a beautiful, intelligent, classy, silly, creative, selfless, dedicated soul, whose light shined brighter than the fireworks she treasured. She impacted everyone she interacted with, as well as those who were lucky enough to know her.
Audrey is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 39 years, Robert Eder II; her daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Andrew Gatlin; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Marc Alcorn; her son, Robert Eder III, and his wife Lindsey Randolph; her sister, Nancy Gooding; her brother, Charles Layne, and his girlfriend, Christine Corkery; her brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Mary Layne; her sister, Tracey, and her husband Howie Mutz; her mother-in-law, Eleanor Eder; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny and Carol Eder; her sister-in-law, Carrie Lombardo; and many more family members and in-laws.
Loved ones who passed prior to Audrey were her mother, Eileen Layne; her father, Charles Layne; her stepmother, Rosemary Layne; and her father-in-law, Robert Eder I.
