Celebration of Life services for Alice Gwendolyn Steele, 84, of Mabank, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas. Alice was born on March 21, 1940, in Ennis, Texas, to Garland Onzy and Mildred Faye (Sanderson) Fincher. She grew up in Ennis, where she married the love of her life, J.B. Steele, on August 7, 1954.
Alice adored her family, with her grandchildren shining as the most precious treasures in her life. She found endless joy in riding her jet ski, affectionately known as "Granny’s Toy". Her passion for flowers, gardening, and creating ceramics filled her hours with purpose and fulfillment. Alice's eye for beauty was shown in her many collections of jewelry, dolls, and beautifully crafted Crosses. Committed to her faith and love for the Lord, she devoted herself to serving God and His children, volunteering her time during Vacation Bible School for countless years, which she loved very much.
Alice is preceded in death by her cherished son, Jeffrey Steele; her parents, Garland and Mildred Fincher; brothers: Ronny Fincher, Gary Fincher; and sister, Betty Aydlott.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, J.B.; son, Rick Steele and wife, Teresa of Dallas; daughter, Kathy Littell and husband, Steve of Ennis; grandchildren: Tamara and husband Brad, Ashly and husband Tony, Michael, David, Adam and Shannon; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Eves and husband, Dan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives that will love and miss her so much.
Alice's legacy of love, kindness and devotion to family will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.
