Winnifred (Winnie) Denton was born September 21, 1929 in Havre, Montana to Isabelle Ross and Charles Pewitt. Winnie went home to Glory on May 25th, 2019 surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, MaryAnn Brown, and her husband of 68 years, Bill Denton. Winnie married Bill on June 4th, 1946 in Montana. They had four children. They are: Nick Denton (Connie), Shirley Everard, Sam Denton (Sally) and Dan Denton (Michelle). She is also survived by her sister Ruth Conn and her brother Chuck Pewitt in addition to numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Winnie was at her happiest when her kids and grandkids all came home for visits and she indulged them with copious amounts of food and desserts. Enough for an army!! She loved family reunions and camping trips as she loved to cook and be surrounded by family. The grandkids have fond memories of going to the ocean with her and Bill.
Winnie (the cookie lady) was always known for her willingness to serve, especially if it meant she could cook. An example of this would be her dedication and continual attendance at the annual Baptist Home Mission Conference in Yakima, WA.
Until she and Bill moved to Rathdrum, ID in 2013, they were active members in the Fellowship Baptist Church in Arlington, WA. She loved working in the nursery and being part of this congregation.
The Memorial Service is on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at 2:30pm at Purdy and Walters Funeral Home (409 Filbert Rd, Lynwood, WA) with burial services to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 11am.
