Virginia Mari Gavurnik, age 76 of Edmonds, Washington passed away suddenly on October 3, 2018, with her daughters by her side. Virginia was born to Clayton and Cora Schaill of Port Townsend, Washington on May 30, 1942. Virginia attended and graduated from St. Helen's Hall in Portland, OR. After high school, Virginia moved to Albuquerque, NM to live with a favorite aunt and go to secretarial school. In 1963 Virginia met David at a drive-in restaurant in Albuquerque and they married in October 1963. Virginia and David raised two children together, Andrea and Aimee. Sadly, 6 and a half years ago, David passed away. Virginia worked for the University of Washington, John Hancock, Safeco and Allstate Insurance Companies. Virginia retired from Allstate Insurance. Virginia was an avid gardener and the dahlia was her favorite flower. Her daughters remember pulling a wagon of plants every spring and summer for her. She also enjoyed traveling and for the past 25 years did a yearly girls trip to Las Vegas with her daughters every spring. Virginia enjoyed playing the slots and laying out in the sun on these trips. Virginia also enjoyed reading, crocheting,and knitting. She loved pets and her daughters will be making a donation in her name to a local pet charity. Virginia was very dedicated and loyal to her friends and family and will be greatly missed. Virginia was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her brother, Douglas Schaill, daughter, Andrea (Scott), Gorski, daughter, Aimee Gavurnik and by two grandchildren, Kyler and Logan. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd., in Lynnwood, WA 98036 on Monday, October 15th, 2018 at 1:00pm.
