Jeanne McGillen Sexton, age 92 of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Jeanne was born to James Gerald McGillen and Francis Eileen (Norton) McGillen of West Haven, Connecticut on February 24, 1930. After studying Secretarial Sciences at Mt. Aloysius College, Jeanne built her career as the Executive Secretary for Olin Corporation in Stamford, Connecticut.
In 1953, Jeanne married her husband, John George Urstadt IV. Together, they welcomed their three children Karen (Grebin), John George ('Jack') V, and David. In 1989, Jeanne became a grandma for the first time; in 1990, she transferred to Olin Corporation's Woodinville, Washington location to be closer to her grandchildren. Of her many roles throughout her life, being 'Germa' was her favorite.
Always the life of the party, Jeanne brought laughter to ever situation, but her big heart is what made her so special to so many. Following retirement, she volunteered with mentally delayed adults; she was adored at the Community Center not because she "helped the needy," but because she was a genuine friend. Jeanne expressed herself through art, whether through painting, community theater, or singing to her own tune. She was a devoted Mariners fan, a Donkey Kong expert, and always kept a beautiful garden.
Jeanne is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother James, her husband, and her two nieces, Lisa and Gina. She is survived by her sister, Mary (Marty) Wagner, her three children, her grandson John George ('Johnny') Urstadt VI, her two granddaughters Nina Grebin and Erin Urstadt, and her nieces and nephews Kelly, Neil, JG, Noel and John.
