

Glen Junior "Sonny" Sayles, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, in Arlington, Washington, surrounded with love. Born on December 25, 1936, in Everett, Washington, Glen lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and deep devotion to family and faith.
Glen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for two decades. As a weapons maintenance technician and Ammunition Foreman, he dedicated himself to his duties with honor and integrity. Glen retired from McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington, on February 28, 1977, after 20 years of distinguished service.
Following his military career, Glen continued to serve the community through his work with the Everett Parks Department. Beginning in 1978 as a Maintenance Supervisor for Parks and Recreation, he brought dedication and care to maintaining the natural beauty of the area. After 21 years of service to the city of Everett, Glen retired in 1999.
Glen’s love for the outdoors was evident throughout his life. He found joy in breathing in the fresh air and taking in the stunning scenery of the Pacific Northwest. Whether golfing or cheering on his favorite teams—the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and Everett AquaSox—Glen embraced every moment with enthusiasm. A gifted artisan, he enjoyed working with his hands to create beautiful pieces through woodworking and lapidary arts. From handcrafted furniture to decorative jewelry, Glen’s creations reflected both skill and heart.
Above all else, Glen cherished his family and held a strong faith in God. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for lighting up any room he entered, Glen's presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
Glen is survived by his children: Theresa (Troy) Weigel of Arlington, WA; Philip Sayles of Arlington, WA; Crystle Sayles of Stanwood, WA; Jaynee (Jerry) Poteet of Grandview, WA; Judy (Mark) Dailey of Montesano, WA; Jackie (Carl) Poteet of Kilauea, HI; Robin Eddy of Mt. Vernon, WA; and Kelli (Eric) Tregoning of Arlington, WA. Also surviving is Sandra Carlson of Sumner, WA—the mother of Theresa, Philip, and Crystle, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were deeply loved by Glen.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anne “Bertha,” with whom he shared 28 precious years; his parents Glen and Ethel; siblings Cleo McLaughlin, Homer Sayles, Glenna Krausz, Kathryn Bailey, Loyal Sayles, and Dorothy Slinde; second wife Elizabeth Ann; her son Robert Tweite; and granddaughter Heather Eddy.
A funeral service honoring Glen’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills located at 409 Filbert Rd., Lynnwood, Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shriners Children’s https://donate.lovetotherescue.org
Glen will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and strength of spirit. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched—with love that endures across generations—and through memories that will forever bring comfort to those who knew him.
