George died April 16 at the age of 92 after surgery for a fall. He left behind children Dave (Sherri), Natalie Dir and Kathy Baringer (Ron), seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Maggie, his wife of 59 years, passed away in 2008. George served in the Army in World War II and spent his entire professional career as an engineer at Boeing. George was a devoted husband and father. He never missed a family event. George enjoyed snow and water skiing, hiking, back packing, mountain climbing, camping, particularly at his beloved Baker Lake, traveling with Maggie in their motorhome, classical music, playing piano and fixing cars and household appliances. George and Maggie had an active social life, forming a bridge club that played monthly for 50 years, square dancing and participating in the St. Bernadette’s seniors club.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Purdy & Walters Floral Hills, Lynnwood, followed by a reception. Memorial contributions to The Nature Conservancy are suggested in lieu of flowers.
