William James MacDonald, 71, of Lynn and formally of Swampscott, passed away on Sunday September 29, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lynn on August 17, 1948 to his beloved parents the late Raymond and Cornelia (Duffeo) MacDonald and he was the cherished life partner to Christine Raffoul.
Billy Mac was a graduate of Swampscott high school completing his studies in 1967. After high school, he went on to become a fantastic carpet installer his specialty for over 40 years was flooring. After retiring, he went on to work in the flooring department at Home Depot continuing to help people with his expertise. Billy Mac was the life of every party, when he walked into a room with in minuets he could have the entire room rolling with laughter. Even if you had heard the story before he would add just a little something to every story every time he told them, making sure to captivate his audience. He had a love for anything sports related, collecting various types of memorabilia, but especially loved his Boston Bruins. He was an incredible athlete for Big Blue Swampscott High football & hockey and he used his love of hockey to coach Lynn youth hockey teams for many years. Most of all he was a family man. He loved being a father and grandfather, being able to spend as much time with them was his greatest joy. He was always there for everyone, making sure to go to every game and event that the grandkids participated in.
Billy is survived by his loving and dodting daughter Kimbery Raffoul and her husband John Raye of Lynn, his cherished grandchildren Gregory and Envy Raye, and his dear sister Lorraine Jackson and her husband the late Tommy Jackson of Peabody. He was predeceased by his beloved parents the late Raymond and Cornelia (Duffeo) MacDonald his cherished life partner to Christine Raffoul, and dear close friend and brother-in-law Thomas Jackson.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, October 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday, October 7th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple St., Lynn. Burial will be at Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott.
