Born in Revere, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late James and Jean Ann (Marciello) Amato. He was raised in Lynn, Massachusetts and graduated from Lynn schools.
Phil was a gifted musician, playing guitar and singing for weddings and special occasions on and around Cape Cod. Best of all, he played and sang for his children, giving them a legacy of happiness and family through song. He possessed a sharp mind for figures and enjoyed tracking the stock market as an independent trader. Phil loved working with his hands and could build and repair anything from electronics to houses. He was smart, talented and creative in countless ways.
Phil was a gentle soul who loved the simple things like home-cooked food, the sound and smell of the ocean, joking, laughing, spending time with his five children and watching his grandchildren play. He will be so fondly remembered for his musical talent, his intelligence, his quick wit and his handiwork. His smile, his laugh, his talks, his hugs and all his little expressions of love will be immensely missed.
Phil was the beloved father of his daughter, Janessa Amato; his son, Phillip Jarod Amato; his son, Damon Amato and wife, Kari; his daughter, Kamarie Miles and husband, Andrew; and his daughter, Bethany Morgan and husband, Brian. He was the loving Papa of his eight grandsons, Elias, Colin, Kole, Lane, Mason, Maximillian, Hudson and Anthony, and his four granddaughters, Kathryn, Rhiannon, Tabetha and Charlotte. He was the dear brother of James Amato and wife, Terry; Kenneth Amato; Diane Saindon and husband, Paul; and the late David Amato. He was the uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
