It is with profound sadness that the family of Lydia Juarez announces her passing on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 90. Lydia was born in El Salvador to Francisca Juarez and Gonzalo Alvarado. In 1964, Lydia migrated to the United States and settled in Brookline, Massachusetts. Eventually she moved with her family to Lynn, where she resided until her death.
Lydia was fiercely independent and always cheerful. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing cacho, and being around her loved ones. Lydia was always uniquely herself and lived life on her own terms.
Lydia loved her family and spent her retirement raising her grandchildren. She never forgot her roots and ensured her family understood the importance of cultural traditions and strong family values.
Lydia will be remembered by her partner Carlos Garcia, children, William, Ricardo, Nelson, and Oscar; her grandchildren Cristina, William, Christopher, Agustin, Cristian, Sonia, Sarai and Cristal; her great-grandchildren: Carlos, William, Rebecca, Jayden, Adrian, Dyani and Tessa; and her extended family members, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her brothers, her lifelong friend Flor Reyes, and her daughters, Sonia Abrego and Dora Barragan.
Friends and family are kindly invited to attend Lydia’s visitation on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
