Kathleen Alberta (Lenzie) Kiley, 77 of Danvers, MA and Palm Coast, FL went with God on Saturday, March 24th at her home after succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. Kathleen was born in Lynn, MA in 1940 to Anthony and Mary Lenzie of Lynn. Kathleen attended St. Mary’s high school in Lynn, MA and graduated from Salem State College with a degree in Business.
Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Kathleen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward C. Kiley of Revere, MA. The entire family would like to thank Ed for the compassionate and constant care that he provided for Kathleen over the past 4 years as Kathleen’s health declined.
Kathleen’s children will never forget summer family bike rides after dinner, days spent at the beach making elaborate sand castles, winter ice skating, sledding and learning how to swim in the back yard pool. Kathleen was never one of those mothers standing off to the side watching her children play. She enthusiastically participated!
Kathleen was very artistic and hands-on in her home life as well. She enjoyed painting and house projects and was happiest when out working in the yard with her plants and flowers. Kathleen became an accomplished water colorist after taking art classes when she was in her early 60’s. Around that time she also fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to play the piano and was a regular at her local Zumba classes until she became ill.
Kathleen had a great wit and often saw the humor and light in everyday life. She was a fan of British comedies and would laugh until she cried right along with her teenaged kids over Monty Python episodes. She adored babies and could not pass by one without telling the parents how lucky they were. Kathleen’s grandchildren were at the center of her later years and she was a doting Nana.
A woman of deep faith, Kathleen was a daily communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Danvers, MA and greatly enjoyed her morning coffee with the girls after Mass.
Kathleen is also survived by her daughters; Elizabeth Kiley Cleasby of Windham NH, Christine Kiley and her husband David Jefferson of Portland ME, Kathleen Kiley Cooper and her husband James Cooper of Palm Coast FL; brothers David Lenzie of Groveland, MA and Paul Lenzie of Danvers, MA and four grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to Mrs. Kiley’s visitation on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904.
