Mr. John A. Fagone, Jr., age 84, of Swampscott, died on Monday, Oct. 14th at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Janice (Henry) Fagone, and of the late Roberta Ann (Prezio) Fagone.
In addition, he leaves three children John Fagone, II and his wife Kirsten of Swampscott, Richard Fagone and his fiancée Julia Miller of Marblehead, and Nadine (Fagone) Simon and her husband John of Marblehead, and step-children, Jason Hartzfeld, and Amy Christmas and her husband Maurice. He also leaves 10 grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher, Gabriella, Isabella, and Julianna Fagone, Alexander and Francesca Simon, Alyssa Gentile, and Brayden and Olivia Christmas. He also had 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late John Anthony Fagone and Mary (Palermo) Fagone, and the brother of the late Joseph Fagone and Rudy Fagone.
He was a well-known hairdresser and businessman in Marblehead. He started his business in 1963 at the young age of 23, and owned and operated John Fagone Hair Salon for 53 years. He studied in Europe and traveled regularly to London and Paris. He considered himself a teacher and a platform artist, and was a member of the prestigious Intercoiffure America. He did hair shows and events with Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchel, and he was considered one of the best hairdressers of his time by his peers and his clients, many of whom traveled long distances to see him.
His funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 23, in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a burial service in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home from 4pm – 8pm on Tuesday, October 22.
