A proud lifelong resident of Lynn, Grace was a graduate of the Lynn Classical, Class of 1957. Shortly after she went on to meet and marry the love of her life the late Joseph J. Walters, Sr. The two of them worked many years together at Prime Manufacturing Co. in Lynn while raising their family in the city they both loved. Grace took pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She made sure to show up at every sporting event, recital, graduation, birthday, etc. You could always count on her, especially around Christmas, her favorite time of year!
Friday nights for many years were spent bowling with loved ones as a member of the Lucky Strike Bowling League. She also enjoyed visiting the casino and playing bingo with her husband and taking trips with family. She was a proud advocate who along with Bonnie Simone and the American Dog Owners Association Inc. took their fight all the way to the MA Supreme Judicial Court where they defeated the city of Lynn ending breed specific ordinances banning “Pit Bulls” from within city limits. Her actions in the case not only protected her own dog but countless other Lynn dogs and their owners from discrimination and unfair treatment.
In recent years though she faced some significant obstacles, she never lost her spunk or spirit. She enjoyed attending beach concerts at Redrock with her beloved late son Joseph J. Walters Jr. who was a devoted caregiver in her later years, playing Bingo at bingo halls across New England, going on lunch dates and shopping trips with her grandchildren and spending mornings with her friends at the Lynn Senior Center.
Originally one of twelve siblings Grace is survived by two sisters Eva DeLeon of Lynn, MA and Rosemarie Park of Woodstock, GA. She leaves behind her two beloved grandchildren Courtney Walters of Lynn, MA and Dorien Manzo of Rochester, NH as well as two great grandchildren she adored Abigail and Anthony Manzo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members whom she loved dearly.
Grace’s visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
