Mr. Gerald J. “Jerry” Foy, age 83, of Lynn, died on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Chestnut Woods Rehab. & Healthcare, Saugus after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Rosemary D. (Cusick) Foy, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn and a lifelong Lynn resident, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Loretta B. (Farrell) Foy.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and was a proud supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
A graduate of St. Mary’s Boys High School, Lynn, Jerry received a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Salem State College.
Jerry taught 6th Grade at the Hood School in Lynn for 38 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Lynn Teachers Union Local 1037, and of the Mass. Federation of Teachers. He loved history and social studies.
A longtime communicant of Holy Family Church, he loved to travel, he enjoyed sports especially the Patriots, and was an avid movie buff.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters Michelle M. Foy and her husband Richard Murphy, Nicole S. Moscatelli and her husband Bruce, and Andrea Bucko and her husband Richard, all of Lynn, and seven grandchildren Joseph, Richard, Jr., Robert and Caitlin Murphy, Krista and Jeffrey Bucko, and Nicole M. Moscatelli. He was also the brother of the late Shirley L. Foy.
