Edith C. Keon

Mrs. Edith C. (Peterson) Keon, age 100, of Burlington formerly of Lynn, died early Sunday morning in the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, Reading, MA, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late John P. Keon.

Born in Lynn, Edith was the daughter of the late Carl O. and Hedvig S. (Erickson) Peterson. She attended Lynn Schools and resided in Lynn for 96 years before moving to Burlington 4 years ago.

Prior to her retirement in 1980, Edith spent many years as Assistant Librarian for the Cobbet Junior High School. She was a member of the Ave Maria Guild, Pine Hill Women’s Club and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed the time she spent with them and her friends.

She leaves her sons, John E. Keon and his wife Claire and Robert J. Keon and his wife Connie all of Wakefield. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Anna H. Peterson, Mildred L. Morgan, Signe E. Donnelly, Hilda Girard, Edwin Peterson, Theodore Peterson and Warner Peterson.

Edith’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Thursday at 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 3-7PM. Gifts in Edith’s memory may be sent to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St. Reading, MA 01867.
