Doreen E. (Trippett) Bird, age 75 of Lynn, passed away unexpectedly and surrounded by loved ones at Lynn Union Hospital on Saturday, December 10, 2016. She was born on February 15, 1941 in Lynn, the daughter of the late Binford and Mary (Piccole) Trippett. She was raised and educated in Lynn, and attended Lynn Classical High School. Doreen furthered her education at both Tufts University and North Shore Community College. Always a devoted mother first, Doreen also balanced work as a special education teacher at the Connery Elementary School in Lynn, and also thrived as a personal interior decorator. Over the years, she shared her stylish personality as a hostess at both the Continental in Saugus, and the Porthole restaurant in Lynn. With daughters raised, Doreen finished her career as a customer service representative for Warner Cable in Lynn. Doreen was known for her loving nature, compassion and care for others. She was an empathetic and avid volunteer, especially while aiding seniors in need at GLSS, Union Hospital, and in private locally. Doreen added “SPARKLE” and personal touches to everything. Her favorite hobby was to go shopping for a bargain, and also enjoyed many trips to Maine visiting friends. Her grandchildren called her “D”, and they have wonderful memories of her as a loving, caring and thoughtful grandmother. Always witty, everyone will remember her for her sense of humor, and her ability to share a long laugh.
Doreen is survived by her daughters; Darlene Jules and husband, Mark of McKinney, TX and Michelle E. Gerolamo and husband, Michael of Peabody. Her brothers; Ronald Trippett of Topsfield and Wayne Trippett of Salem. Her Sister, Paula Fishner and husband, Jack of Oregon. Her grandchildren; Nicholas, Christina and Spencer Jules. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Bird, her sisters; Marydale Harmer and Barbara Murphy, and her sister-in-law Lynn Trippett. She was a devoted friend and care giver to Robert Desrosier.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 3-7 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10 AM at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street in Lynn. Burial will be private.
