Barbara E. Staples, a lifelong resident of Lynn, the daughter of Mark and Maude (Cassidy) Staples, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. She went on to receive her BS degree from Northeastern University and her MA degree from Central Michigan University, becoming a registered Medical Technologist and a registered X-Ray Technologist. She was employed at Lahey Clinic and later at Union Hospital in Lynn as Chief Laboratory Technologist and at Lynn Hospital as Laboratory Educational Coordinator. After she retired, Barbara became a volunteer at Essex Institute in Salem, Lynn Public Library, and Lynn District Court. She was an active Charter member of the Essex Society of Genealogy, New England Historic Genealogical Society, and the Lynn Historical Society. She was the published author of four books. Barbara was the sister of the late Aubrey Staples and is survived by two nieces, Claire Staples of Lynn and Marilyn Crosscup of Westfield, MA, one nephew, Mark Staples of Georgia, five grandnieces, their children, and several cousins.
Barbara’s funeral service and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, are private and are under the direction of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. In lieu of flowers contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
