Born March 4, 1937 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late George Edward and Helen Leftwich Woodford. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn W. Harris. Shirley was a retired Teacher’s Aide with the Bedford County School System. She was a member of Lebanon U.M. Church.
Shirley is survived by three children, Paul G. Tibbs and wife Debbie, Sharon H. Tibbs, and Alfred “Buck” Tibbs, all of Forest and two sisters, Katherine W. Dudley of Forest and Virginia W. Dalton and husband Jim of Lynchburg.
A graveside service, to celebrate Shirley’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Sue Keen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at Shirley’s residence.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Shirley’s special friends who were also her caregivers, Mary Brown and Mable Smith.
