Robert "Fatman" Earl Harris Jr.

Born June 26, 1959 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Robert Earl Harris, Sr. and Josie Tomlin Harris of Rustburg. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and his passions were his own kids, as well as the youth of Rustburg, where he coached numerous sports during his life. Bobby was especially fond of Rustburg Dixie Youth baseball, where he was a coach, umpire, and #1 fan. He was a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church.

Bobby was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Ragland, Sr. and his grandparents, Linwood and Josie Tomlin and Sterling and Ora Harris.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Robert Earl Harris, III and Cody Andrew Harris, both of Rustburg; one sister, Rhonda Inge, also of Rustburg; a sister-in-law, Pamela Ragland of Lexington; three nephews, Leslie Ragland (Maria) and their children, Brandon and Taylor, Phillip Ragland, Jr., and Chris Inge (Kelcey) and their children, Sam and Coleman; one niece, April Lopez (Jay) and their children, Lauren, Amber, and Jeffrey. Bobby is also survived by his friend and mother of his children, Lisa Harris of Lynch Station.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Mead Memorial U.M. Church with the Rev. Dr. Alex Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Cumbie Memorial Cemetery in Rustburg.

The family will receive friends Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
