Richard Alan Large, 51, of Lynchburg, died, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband to Barbara Anne Smith-Large. Born February 4, 1961, in Lynchburg, he was the son of Mary Maddox Large and the late Walter Large.
Richard was a retired molder for Griffin Pipe Industries. He was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife and mother, Richard is survived by his son, Matthew James Leon and his wife Laurel of Lynchburg; one sister, Deborah Brown and her husband Kenneth of Rustburg; one brother, Walter James Large of Madison Heights; two grandchildren, Chloe Leon and Zavier Leon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Dr. Dale Sides officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
