Richard Paul “Dick” Keeler, 79, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born May 15, 1939 in Revere, MA, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Mary Gorman Keeler and was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Emily Keeler; his brother, Russell Keeler and his sister, Mary Spirdioni. He was the youngest of seven children. Dick moved to Lynchburg in 1960, where he served bravely with the Lynchburg Police Department for seven years. Following a flourishing thirty year career as an Innkeeper and Hotel Owner, he retired in 1998 at the age of 59.
Dick leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of fifty years, Frances Reynolds Keeler; three sons, Richard P. Keeler, Jr. (Connie), Robert Edward Keeler, Sr. (Melody), and Leighton Stacey Dodd (Amy); one daughter, Shelby Hollister-Share (Kevin); nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Arthur, Charlie, and Henry J. “Buddy” Keeler and a sister, Jane Keeler Trager.
Dick’s smile was infectious, ever the consummate salesman, affable, and accommodating. When not on his tractor, cutting the fields below his home, he could be found at home with open doors and meal waiting.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.
A private family graveside service will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
