Michael Wade Massie

Michael W. Massie, 38, of Lynchburg, went peacefully to be with his Lord, Monday, August 9, 2010. He was the husband of eight years to Lynn Ellen Massie. Born July 17, 1972 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Elmo Willard Massie, Jr. and Shirley Garbee Massie.
Michael was a graduate of Brookville High School, Class of 1991. He was a former scaler
for Georgia Pacific Corp. in Brookneal, and a member of Langhorne Chapel Community Church. He also attended Community Fellowship Baptist. Michael was also a past member of the Evington Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is survived by three daughters, M. Renae Whorley of Spout Spring, Hailey J. Roberson and K. Grace Large, both of Lynchburg; one son, Edsel Denney of Cincinnati. OH; one brother, Mark Massie; two sisters, Norma Millner and her husband Dennis and Betty Bumgarner, all of Lynchburg; special nephew, Dakota Daniel Massie; two nephews, Matt Millner and Jonathan Bumgarner; and two nieces, Heather Millner and Jessica Bumgarner, all of Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be conducted, 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Chris Weidley officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends, 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, August, 13, 2010 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the needs of the family.
