Mary Alice Padgett Gilbert

Mary Alice Padgett Gilbert, 90, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Runk and Pratt Nursing Home on Leesville Road. She was the wife of the late Thomas Elmo Gilbert. Born February 16, 1925, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Padgett and the late Marian Hudson Padgett.
Mary Alice was a retired owner and operator of Christian Bookshop, Inc. and she was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
Mary Alice is survived by two sisters, Ruby P. Gaines (Tucker) of Lynchburg and Nellie P. Gaines of Rice; ten nieces and nephews, including Robin Gaines (Barbara Gentile), who was like a daughter to Mary Alice; numerous extended family members; and special friends, Patricia, Brenda, Michael, Max, Jenny, and Jack and Krista and family.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Carlton Duck officiating.
There will be no scheduled visitation hours.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Runk and Pratt on Leesville Road for their love and care that they showed to Mary Alice.
