Born on September 20, 1939 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Hilda Francis.
Marie worked as a sales associate with Target and Kmart. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and with her family. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she is survived by her son, Gregory Johnson; daughter, Karen Martinez; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Faye Smith; and a numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow at Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery in Nathalie. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
