Obituary of Julia "Judy" Ann Bishop
Julia Ann Smith Bishop “Judy”, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2023 at her residence. Born on January 16, 1947 in Roanoke, she was the daughter of the late Harry V. Smith and Helen L. Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bishop and a brother, Harry Smith, Jr. Judy was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. She was a great Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church and was very active in the church and loved singing in the choir. She loved to volunteer and over the years worked with many organizations, most recently volunteering at Lynchburg General Hospital. She is survived by her children, Margie Clark-Morris of Audubon, NJ and Jonathan S. Saunders, Jr. (Natalia) of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Clark, Victoria A. Clark, Daniel Saunders, Chelsey Saunders, Jani Saunders; great-grandchildren, Kai Harrison and Nash Harrison; and three brothers, Clyde Smith, Tommy Smith and Dan Smith. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel officiated by Pastor Chris Jordan. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Judy’s name are asked to consider The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
