Joseph Carson Johnson

Joseph “J.C.” Carson Johnson, 74, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Heartland of Lynchburg.
Born July 2, 1942 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Gideon Joseph and Odessa Hendricks Johnson and was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Johnson. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry, Simplimatic Engineering, and Appiled Technologies. He was a U.S. Marine, who served his country during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Robert “Robby” Johnson and wife Missy of Rustburg; his daughter, Katherine J. Byrd of Catawba, NC; one brother, Charlie Johnson and wife Vicki of Lynchburg; two sisters, Betty Jo Cunningham and Linda Kay Hicks and husband Jeff, all of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Culpeper National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
