James Richard Padgett

James Richard Padgett, 87 of Lynchburg, widower of Anna Cassidy Padgett, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Altavista on January 22, 1935, son of the late Bowyer Stevens Padgett and the late Lettie Glass Padgett. In addition to his wife Anna and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Stevens and two sisters, Joyce Goodwin and Barbara McLane.
James retired from HK Porter. He enjoyed watching old westerns, riding motorcycles, going to car shows and spending time with his friends while having breakfast at McDonalds.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Shirley Creasy and Angela P. Dilbeck and her husband David; four grandchildren, Jerimiah Brooks, Jessica Burnette and her husband Johnathan, Abigail C. Dilbeck and Leah A. Dilbeck as well as five great grandchildren, Dayton Brooks, Cuyler Brooks, Keeley Burnette, Khamrin Burnette, and Kasen Burnette.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Heather Cook and Penny Springs of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the love and care they gave to James.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 6 – 8 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor JoAnn Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
